Good Morning Deb....my daughter is the same way, I swear, she inhales the food, rather than chew it. I heard somewhere that a we should chew each bite a "certain"? number of times...since I can't remember the number I don't think this is helpful...:) But maybe just an awareness to chew each bite, may assist you in your goal. Acknowledging is the first step, and 28 days of anything forms a habit...I know you will succeed. Much Love and Hugs.

I too used to be a 'fast' eater. Really fast. And I had to literally train myself to slow down. But once I did...I discovered some of the things I was eating...I didn't really like! And some, I LOVED! Taste became the total focus of my eating time. If I really liked the taste, I would continue. If NOT, then I eliminated that food, and found a substitue. It was very interesting. And now, I take my time and enjoy what I eat. (it required a lot of focus at first though, I will say that right up front!)

Thanks ladies. I just tried it this morning and you are right Paula lots of focus! I had to remind mysef like 10 times! I didn't do very well, but I am not giving up.

My husband was a speed eater since he grew up with 2 older brothers, all close in age, and it was either eat it fast or lose out to big bro. So, in order to help him slow down I suggested he put his fork down after each bite and put his hands in his lap while he chewed. It was hard at first, but he stuck to it and now he eats like a human and not a starving puppy. We've also eaten non-Asian food with chopsticks which will slow a person down quite a bit if they're anything like me and really clumsy with chopsticks. Good luck with your goal.
