Yesterday was Super Bowl Sunday, and today is Valentine's Day. I made homemade pizza for the first time yesterday. The crust rose beyond my expectations, and it was too thick but pretty good otherwise. I tried to make a cut down version of Susanna's artichoke dip. I made 1/4 of the total amount, but I included the entire can of artichokes and an entire bunch of green onions. That was too much, and I had to add a bit more cream cheese to tone it down. For dinner, I need to use up that goat cheese dip I made and the bruschetta. Sue was kind enough to bring me a baguette from Panera. This time I will freeze some, because last time, the last 3 chunks molded before I could eat them. I will slice my baguette into thin pieces and toast them in the oven.

I have been eating out a lot. Of course, there are leftovers, and nobody knows how many calories are in them. Last night, it was The Brass Door. It was odd. We would try to order something, and the waiter would say "We don't have that. Cysco has not delivered it." This was true of the cheesy potatoes. The bread was not as good as it used to be. The creamed spinach did not taste the same. And there was no choice of desserts. Only ice creams and bread pudding. What a huge bummer! We might not ever dine there again.

The last week has been an orgy of eating out and eating those leftovers. After the Mexican, which lasted me a week, we went out to Italian Colors for dinner before the show. I ordered shrimp scampi, an appetizer, and it came with sour dough bread and butter. None leftover. There were 6 shrimp: perfect size. The sauce was over the top good. Too bad that the kitchen never produced the Brussels Sprouts appetizer that Pam and I were going to share. I felt awful that my meal included no vegetable. Sue gave me a couple bites of her salad. Sunday night, we were off to the family birthday party for Barb and Betsey. They chose curry. We went to a new place in Walnut Creek. Yuk! First off, the place was dirty. Soiled table cloth. Dirty floor. Disgusting food. Sargam. Don't go back!!! Tuesday, Sue wants her birthday dinner at the Brass Door. They have changed. I'll just get a steak.

Yesterday, Sue and I went out to the New Mecca and had lunch. I ate most of 2 chicken tacos and a couple bites of my chili relleno and a bunch of chips and beans. Yum!!! I had a bottle of wine for dinner. That is all I had yesterday, and I have no idea how many calories it was. The day before, I ate and ate all day and never got full. Today, I will make Cream of Broccoli soup with the leftover cream and some cheese. I'll also make some more bruschetta with some of those tomatoes I have that are getting old. And I'll process and freeze the persimmons. Finally. And I have to start that lemoncello.
