Went swimming today. There is a new pool and sports centre opened up in the neighbourhood and I got 10 free tickets, so I went along to have a try. It had been a while since I last went swimming - I think about two years - after the other pool, I used closed for renovations.
After the swimming, I took the chance to step on the scales and I'm down 2.5 kg, which is nice.
Last week was a busy week, even though this is my holiday time. I was off to Beijing last Monday and back late on Tuesday night. Got to love the high-speed rail network here. China built more high-speed rail in 10 years than the whole of the rest of the world did ever. Zipping along at 250 km/hr (156 mph) the journey just takes 5 hours.
I found a nice restaurant for Beijing roast duck for dinner. The next day I had a typical Beijing breakfast of wontons. My wife had the wonton soup and I had fried wontons with chilli sauce - a variation I hadn't seen before.
Booked up for another holiday for next week - which will be Chinese New Year. I'm off to Zhuhai, which is right next to Macau, in the south of China. It has been -15°C (5°F) here this week whereas Zhuhai will be about +20°C (68°F).
When I get back from that holiday, in mid-February, I'll be off again to Beijing.

Mixed up my own muesli recipe today - almonds, walnuts, cashews, raisins and craisins with rolled oats. No added sugars. Tastes much better than the store bought version. Going to be strict on the calories this month. It's new year this weekend and then Chinese new year just under four weeks after that. I want to get below the magic 100kg before Chinese new year.

Hit the scales today for the first time in nearly a month and at last I have a downward shift. I managed to lose 1 kg over December even though it was the festive season with chocolates and cakes being regular on the menu.
The university exams are all finished, just need to mark the papers and then it's two months of holiday. If the snow keeps away, I should be able to get plenty of exercise in.
Below is a typical breakfast here in China. That's soy milk, steamed pork buns and soy sauce.

Was my 40th birthday last week so I laid off the calorie counting for a while - it would just be to complicated to log. I didn't over do it though. The weight is still steady - neither up nor down.
Four weeks left till the end of the University term. Just four more weeks of teaching this timetable which isn't helping me lose weight at all. I have classes from 11:30 till 3:00pm then 4:30 till 6:00 every week day. No time to eat lunch at lunch time or dinner at dinner time. It make a big temptation to eat junk to fill the gaps. I do resist most days and haven't been going over my calorie budget.
I'm just looking forward to the winter break when I can really take control of my food choices and spend some decent time on my fitness training.

Still flat line. Not even a fraction of a pound different. I cut the calories right down for the last two weeks. No over eating. I stayed tight within the target. Logged every item. I felt hungry every night and I didn't fall into the temptation of eating to fill that gap. However, no change in weight. Some pics of typical lunches from the past week:
