🤷♀️ I’m done with guessing why any particular approach does or doesn’t work. Seems to be no direct or consistent link between either intermittent fasting or 3 day backpacking trips. Since I’m only 5 lbs away from my current goal though I’m considering starting to incorporate a few toning exercises now instead of waiting till the pure cardio of summer is over. That was always the next step anyway. (I know. I should have started sooner. But I didn’t so here I am with only now in front of me.)

I may have figured out my last drop of 5 lbs. At the end of my backpacking trip 7/4-6, I inadvertently did two days of intermittent fasting(the lean gains style, not the full day styles) and my weight was less every single day for 5 days(and following week nothing but standard fluctuations). Those 2 days with a fasting window of about 15 hours was the only thing that was different so stands to reason it had an impact. I’ve got a plan in place to do it again through this Tuesday so I’ll see how it goes. 🤞

I don’t know what to say. 😳 I guess my new plan is working(1200 base and eat back 50% of the active calories from my Apple Watch). So been eating plenty. Still giving it a suspicious side eye but I guess I’ll keep doing what I’m doing and hope for the best.

It was actually a little less than this but I’m suspicious of lows until they can be proved over a few days. For very petty reasons, this is a big day for me as it’s the yearly free health screening at work and I get to weigh in around 12 lbs less than last year and show the smug health screening lady that I could do it. It’s more likely she doesn’t even remember me. But still, it makes me feel good!

Made some small piles last night in preparation for a 3 day backpacking trip over the 4th.
The realization that I was missing out on experiencing many of the beautiful places in my state because I could barely drag myself a 1/2 mile up a trail was a huge motivator to getting in shape.
Anyone else found motivation and inspiration from Nature on your weight loss/fitness journey? What is your favorite thing to do in the outside?
Apart from hiking and backpacking, I really enjoy identifying wildflowers. I have a couple books at home and take pictures to sleuth out the varieties. It’s so exciting to discover a new kind I’ve never seen before!
