Hello. Nice meeting all of you. I am a new member.
I am a 68 years old lady born in Argentina. I been living in California, USA for 48 years. In those days my weight was 125 pounds. I used to eat anything and didn't gain any pound. I wish I could do that now. LOL.
I started gaining weight after I had my 2 children but it wasn't so much, so I ignored. That was my first mistake. Little by little, as years went on I gained about 25 pounds. I didn't like it but still didn't do anything. I was too busy raising my kids and working. Work was very sedentary, I was a reporter for an Spanish Newspaper in Los Angeles and was a free lance writer for an Spanish magazine.
Then, at late 40's came menopause and I went up to 185. I didn't like at all and tried a few popular diets. Nothing worked. I didn't know I was doing all wrong. Unfortunately, a few years ago I had an accident and with 2 compression fractures in my back I couldn't walk for one year. I went up to 245. I tried again a few diets. Nothing. Not even a pound less. My body wont respond to any diet.
When I got to 255 I was desperate. I new I needed to do something drastic and smart. And soon. I stop eating red meet and I consulted a nutritionist. She said I needed a total change in my eating habits. I researched all options and I liked Mediterranean Diet. I tried as hard as I could to get used to a new and healthy way of life. Since late 2016 I been following it very strictly and lost 30 pounds. But is so slow. I see people losing more than 25 pounds in a few months, but for me it takes forever, and I am very dedicated to losing more pounds.
Hopefully, now, reading a few stories I will lean more. Thanks.
