Sometimes life feels like stapling Jello to a wall...you think you've got it handled and then some part of it slips through, requiring immediate attention.....and then another piece begins to slip.

This weekend, I did no walking and my WOE is slipping, at least in terms of on-plan food choices and portions. Not heading for BK or anything, but some danger signs are here and I need to address them NOW....before another piece of Jello begins slipping off the wall.

So, like it or not, I need a strong re-focus. Tomorrow morning, I'm walking, no matter the temperature. And, that's just the beginning.

Not food related....this weekend, I thought our pool pump was a bit noisy plus I was seeing a lot of air bubbles in the returns of the pool....not good signs. Basically, the pump will need a new shaft seal (that's my diagnosis) or need to be replaced.

Of course this happened late at night....on a Friday....on a long 3-day weekend....when the temps are falling below freezing, so it's necessary to run the pump. Can't call anyone until Monday morning and I doubt I should be running the pump in the meantime. So out came all the extra blankets I could find to cover the equipment and pipes for a couple nights.

When I began to research various pumps, I discovered there's a new law in effect (my state and a few others) that now restricts the kind of pumps that can be placed on pools....all in the name of energy efficiency. Generally, that's a good thing, but it may require a higher cost initially, although there appears to be a substantial rebate available from the power company.

So, we'll have to see how this all shakes out. I don't like buying things I don't know a lot about....guess that's the cynic in me...but this pump needs to be repaired or replaced before the next cold front drops us below freezing.

The good news in all this is that it is happening in the winter, when the water temp is cold and there's very little chance of the pool growing algae while we're missing the circulation and chlorination the pump normally provides.

Hi Sandy, I totally understand the jello analogy! I have struggled since Christmas with getting my focus back....carb creep is hard to reverse! I'll ask you tomorrow night if you walked tomorrow! Ask me too....I have done pretty well with exercise but I have 'permitted' myself to eat a few more carbs than I really should. I am getting so many positive remarks that, in a way, it is 'permitting' me to pretend that I can eat like a normal person! Hahaha.....that will never be the case, I think! Anyway......blessings on your walk tomorrow!

My life is built on Jello! I thank you so much for your journal because I'm going through the same thing (minus the pool pump). But I believe you will find inspiration to carry on - just because of who you are and what you have accomplished so far.

Thanks for the encouragement Sandy, I need it! I always read your posts to keep me going. I have been slipping with some cookies~my weakness, but unlike in the past when I would have gone off the deep end with the whole package I have stopped at one. I wish you well at the end of your journey! Take care.

F8thful1....well? Did YOU do your walk? I'll have to pop on over to your journal to check, 'cuz I DID!!! I got involved with an unexpected home project and it kept getting later.....and later.....and later. Finally just blew off some steam and went out there. Doggies and I are ALL in a better mood after our walks!

Lisa, you've been doing so well...well, maybe not the cookies part....but truly, I saw your graph the other day and it looked like you were still moving right along at over a pound a week. Obviously, you've got a good sense of what your body needs to make this WOE a success for you.

Yes, I did!! Worked out last night and tonight too! Glad to see that you kept your plan to walk too.....sounds like everyone is having difficulty this month getting back in the groove. Hopefully by February we are all back on track!!
