Back to where I was before the latest peanut debacle.
Walked the usual 3.1 miles this AM, 1 doggy for all of it, the other for 1.5 miles. Great day, about 70 when we began, bright, sunny blue skies and a strong northerly breeze. That breeze from the north is what's giving us those clear skies and cooler temps.
I spent some time while walking, thinking about this 3-day weekend coming up and how important it is for me (and anyone, really) to think about what'll be going on and plan accordingly. Sure, plans change and the unexpected can occur, but at least I need to plan for the changes in my routine that create problems for me.
One example is that DH will be traveling to another city early Saturday morning. Normally, he'd take the doggies for their walk on weekends. I count on him doing that so I can take a walk by myself, maybe on a different route, or possibly doing a time-trial, of sorts. Well, that won't happen on Saturday....I'm going to be the designated dog-walker.
Tiny little changes like that can provide just enough of an irritation that, combined with other interruptions and changes, can send me into the kitchen, looking for food to soothe. I really should be able to roll with the punches better than that, and a lot of times, I can. But I'm also getting better at realizing what kinds of situations make this WOE a bit more difficult for me.
So, today is the time to take a look over these next few days to assess what the days will be like and look for potential hazards!
Which also brings to mind that it's time for EVERYBODY to look ahead to Halloween and Thanksgiving. How will you handle it? I know one thing for sure: we are NOT having ANY candy in the house "in advance" of Halloween, or just because there's a sale on a bushel bag of candy!!! LOL!!
But seriously, it IS time to begin thinking of how we all handle Halloween. Those of us who have been active on this site since this time last year can attest to the fact that a number of people found themselves thrown off plan for weeks, just because they thought they could endulge "just a little bit" on the Halloween candy and other treats. Some of those people never made it back on plan until well after Christmas and had the added pounds to show for it. You've got to think about the parties and other events coming up and plan what you will do to stay on track. It CAN be done.
And, as far as Thanksgiving is concerned....time to begin trying out some low-carb recipes to see what kind of meal you can serve up and still stay on plan. Like Halloween, it CAN be done!! If you wait until the few days before Thanksgiving, you won't have enough time to make it all work. Begin planning NOW!!!
Well, this has turned out to be a novella, so I'd better close and get on with the day. Hope it's a great one for everyone!
