Couldn't stomach a LCHF diet yesterday and ate intuitively. Ate what I wanted until I was satisfied and then no more. Interestingly, The fat side was a little high, and protein was a little low, but calories came in under my RDI and carbs were not atrocious... I felt good! I am doing the same today. After watching several TED Talks on YouTube about LCHF, I decided to try it myself back in October of this year. However, I found it practically impossible. Living in China, I have a very high carb diet. I reckon I had been eating 70-80% carbs. When I looked at my work canteen, they have a great selection but it is all carb based. Noodles and rice dominate of course, but even if I skip the rice, the meat comes floured and fried with a sugary sauce. Pushing at it for about a month, I did reduce my carbs but my diet diary says I only got down to 50% carbs - which most people would consider normal, not low at all.
I think trying to cut carbs rigorously, leaves too few options. Your cutting out so many staples of normal diets - bread, rice, potatoes, pasta.
Instead, I focused on cutting the junk carbs - basically all the sugary things.
I think these extreme end of the spectrum diets are usually missfounded. When some doctor says, "reduce X", the general public hears, "never eat X". Really we all know that we should have a, "Healthy _____ diet." You know what the missing word is there - of course it is "balanced".
The long and the short of all that is that if you feel like a bit of carbs, have some. Just don't over do them.

Hey Rincewind 42...Good to hear from you! I totally agree about excluding any one food group. If you eat a forbidden or not allowed food, you fail on an all or nothing approach to a certain dietary lifestyle...I think that sets you up for deprivation and bingeing! Good luck to you!

If you cannot do LCHF maybe try to increase the protein and do moderate carbs.
