A tale of 2 springs...yesterday was 80 degrees before 10AM and high humidity with little to no breeze. Today was about 70 degrees, stiff wind, but dry! Either spring is fine for now, as they're both nice and sunny; easy to get the 3.3 mile walk in.

Wa-a-a-ay too much stuff to do today to even try to list it all. Pest guy is probably going to call to say he's got us on his route for tomorrow which means I get all hyper about preparing the house. But the lawn needs to be done too....but I think I'll work on the interior.

Still waiting on 3 contractors...2 are to do a job for us but we don't have confirmed dates, although 1 thinks it will be this week. A third contractor, well...the salesperson/estimator hasn't even called as yet to make an appt. to come out and LOOK at the job, let alone actually DO the work. I say this all the time, but I really hate dealing with contractors! We're so nice and polite, we pay on time, we're reasonable in what we ask them to do and we get treated like the scum of the earth (OK, slight exaggeration).

We actually have 2 or 3 other moderate repairs that need to get done but I've been holding off on making those calls. There's a limit to how much of this contractor-business I can handle at one time and I think I'm already way over my limit!

I don't care what anyone says about the economy, but it must be doing pretty well if these "service" people can brush off potential customers. Did I ever mention that the highly-recommended electrical company here not only never got us our estimate last year, but also never responded to a follow-up phone call (to see where our estimate was) 2 months after having been out here?

What is it about contractors? Or me? Do I just not have the secret code to get the work done, or even an estimate prepared, in a timely manner? AAARRRRGGGGHHHH!!!! I actually have a sneaking suspicion that males would get more timely attention when they call than a female, but getting DH to call is yet another issue.

Well, off to do what I can.

Sandy - I work for 2 contractors (one is my husband). The estimators sit all winter and then they have a flood of calls in the spring. But that is no excuse for rudeness, missed appointments, etc. so I can't really help you with contractors and I certainly cannot help you with men.

Make sure you get a permit and check references. I watch way to much HGTV:) Good luck:)

Melissa...did you ever see that one show about the Canadian guy who goes in to fix up other contractors' screw-ups? Really amazing. Of course, in most episodes he would just shake his head and pull things down all over the place to point out how bad the previous contractors were.

Hi Sandy, a lot of men treat women differently than men. Its like they are still in the flintsone era. They think we are stupid and haven't a clue what is going on. I love it when I can prove them wrong. Have a good evening...........Bren

Sandy - my husband has been doing the little jobs that the big guys don't want. Even doing that it has been pretty lean these past two years. Crazy times we are living in.
