No walking for me today, as DH and I took a day trip to go shopping for various tools and hardware. On the way back, we stopped at a convenience store that has a fried chicken franchise in it and got a bucket of chicken.

I will occasionally have fried chicken....minus all the breading, at least as much as I can possible peel off the pieces. Then I add a few extra hidden carbs to my diary just to try to cover the tidbits that are still left on. Not a perfect solution, but the best I can come up with.

The chicken was great, but I was still hungry so I had some peanut butter - more than I should. It left me feeling full, which is good, but then I felt bloated for a few hours. I waited until past dinnertime, until I finally got hungry again, and opted for only a salad. It's bedtime for me now and the bloating is pretty much gone and I'm feeling fine; not over-full.

I'm trying to get into why I want the peanut butter and I think it has to do with thinking that I still want a little something else when I'm still hungry. I'm thinking that just a bit of peanut butter will take care of it quickly and with not a large amount. The only trouble is that I'm eating the peanut butter too fast which is very easy to do. I don't get any immediate feeling of getting rid of the hunger or getting full, so I continue. When it all finally catches up with me, I feel somewhat bloated.

I'm not sure of the solution, except for getting the PB out of the house, but at least I think I've got a better feel why the PB is so hard for me to handle. Same thing with regular peanuts and probably the same thing with the Reddi-Wip-type product. The RW isn't a problem right now, thankfully, but all 3 of these items are quick, easy to eat, and can be consumed in large quantities before my body has a chance to register satiety.

Sandy - Sounds like you guys had a nice day yesterday. I had read that fried chicken is safe to eat after you pick off all the skin - but my husband gets so disgusted with me when I do that. Sorry to hear about your peanut butter battles. But I think I know you well enough that you will get it figured out. As for your question, the vet will call this afternoon to let us know how Kitty is doing. My husband and I keep talking about how foolish it is spending all this money on an animal - but what are you going to do?

Hi Sandy, I was like that with my Chocolate. I still have half a bag left but I haven't touched for over week now. Don't ask me how I've done it I just have. You can do this as you have over come a lot....Have a great Sunday......Bren

BuffyBear...exactly....what are you gonna do? We've spent more than I care to remember on the doggies we've had over time...MRIs, cardiac consults, bladder surgery, etc. Sounds like human medicine and costs nearly the same. Sure, the cost of a "new" animal would be less but we owe it to those dear animals to do what's reasonable to help them when they get sick. And I hear you on the cost of emergency vets! They're worth every dime, IMO, but it IS expensive! My Collie guy got into raisins right after we moved here (got into the "kitchen" moving boxes) and spent several days hooked up to IVs at the emergency vet flushing the toxins out of the kidneys. He's all fixed up now, but we actually could have lost him if we had not had access to an emergency vet. Thank heaven for having an emergency vet close by! Hope you get a good report on Kitty this afternoon.

Bren....it finally got to that point with the Reddi-Wip product. I had to envision that it was "bread" and avoid it completely. Now, I can have a very small squirt on top of Jello Mousse every now and then, but I have to watch that food item very, very carefully. Good work on leaving that chocolate alone!

Thanks Sandy and you as well. Oh my sister got her knee scooter on order and also a stool for taking a shower. She said she was going to practice with the scooter. she cracks me up....I hear about taking care of our pets.I was spending $100 a month on my poodle and she was worth every penny.......Bren

Sandy, I broke down and threw out all the PB. I eat celery and radishes when I am hungry. They are bland or bitter and make me not want to eat anything else. Do you have anything that turns you away from food you can take a few bites of instead of PB?
