POUTINE!!!! is what I woke up craving this morning. I'm going to have to research a way to make it low carb. If any Canadians are reading this, is there a low carb version?
I spent the summer living in far north Yukon Territory and at practically every restaurant poutine was an option as a side. And now where I live in South Florida there are a gazzillion (I am not even exaggerating) French Canadians who winter here and guess what the local restaurants have on their menus?
Yep. Poutine. Many of the eateries even have banners flying outside shouting "Oui, nous avons Poutine/Yes, we have Poutine.
Damn you Canada for your potatoey cheesy gravy deliciousness!!!

lol! Um...unless you have a substitute for Fries...no. No LC version. :) Basically poutine is just how you described...chips with cheese & gravy. I'd recommend keeping it for the occasional "treat day". Trust me...I love the stuff too & have trouble resisting it when available!

I'm willing to try a cauliflower substitution but I don't know if I would ever be allowed back into Canada if I messed with this national treasure.

Try the cauliflower version for everyday occasions. Save the real stuff for spluges once in a great while. Have a great day Cbreeze!

And what you don't tell us Canucks about your "perversion" of poutine, we won't know, right! ;)

Thanks Cindy, you too! I think I will if I can get this crazy idea out of my crazy brain.

Yzorah, I suppose you are correct, but you know, the absolute friendliest people I've ever met (as a population) in my travels are Canadians so I have a feeling I would be chided, given a noogie, and then forgiven.

So, Ms Pixi are you trying to tell me that if I come up with a super fantastic happy delicious cauliflower sub for fries you don't want to know about it? Yeah, you're right. I'll just keep this dirty little secret to myself. :::hangs head in shame:::

On behalf of overweight Canadians everywhere, I forgive you. Now go forth and experiment with cauliflower or zucchini sticks and get back to us...

No please keep it to yourself, because that would just ruin my day dreaming about the greasy gravy and cheese covered goodness that is poutine lol ;)

I believe if I can make a passible version of Poutine without potatoes then I can probably cure cancer or figure out why the Kardashians are famous.
