Walked 3.1 miles today with both doggies; a bit cooler but still in the mid-60's, and less humid.

Dogs got to meet a cute little 5-month-old puppy that had managed to escape its owner. Once I saw it was a puppy, I wasn't concerned....THAT kind of loose dog I can handle! Owner right there and very apologetic....hasn't had the dog for very long but seems completely captivated by the little one....the dog's a real cutie....maybe a Lab/Cocker mix??? Owner said it was anyone's guess.

Glad that the humidity has dropped and your doggies are able to do the whole circuit. I just love puppies!!! Aren't they the most adorable little critters? lol Have a great day, Sandy!

Stef, DH and I have long said to each other that there's no going to "just look at" a litter of puppies....won't be able to leave without taking one home. And, thanks....I'll take a downward tick any day, any time, even if it is still above where my journey "ought" to be at this point. Have a great day.

LOL, Sandy that is exactly how we are...they are just too cute...and that puppy breath! I think God added some kind of pheromone to it to make them irresistible...lol

Thank goodness it was a pup. It's those BIG, loose ones that bother me. Do you every watch the Dog Whisper? Cesar Millan, is awesome. He even has a web-site. Hope you have a wonderful day.:):)

Am glad you let your kids play with the neighbors once in a while! And congrats - that Christmas weight is slowly melting away!

Sounds like a pretty responsible pet owner. It surely beats those that allow their agressive fighting dogs to roam the streets without a care in the world.

Laurie, I used to watch the show and even got to go to a Cesar seminar at a home show in Atlanta a few years back. But now, most of my dog/training info comes from Whole Dog Journal. Love the research-based articles and info from the top dog behaviorists in the country.

Buffy, I love it when the 2 of them can have friendly canine encounters. And, as far as the Christmas weight is concerned....the emphasis is on "slowly"...LOL! But, it is what it is and there were definitely some lessons learned this season.

You said it, Keli! I'm thankful that I don't live in some areas where some truly aggressive dogs are either loose or are contained behind a very flimsy, or low, fence.

It sounds like your walks are mostly nice thankfully....not horrible all the time. I love dogs so much we lost our Cairn Ben who was 18 1/2 last year and we really miss him, my little Westie Daisy is getting on as well, my hubby says he won't get another dog it is too sad when they die. But I don't feel like that at all, the love they bring is so worth everything. My daughter lost her 4yr old Yorkie Lily last year, but they luckily had just got Nigel he is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, he is such a little lover, loves everyone and so good with children. He really helped them through losing Lily. I want a Puppy:( they are so delightful.....

Oh, Yvonne, so sorry about your Ben....what a long life the smaller dogs can have....makes it even more difficult, if that's possible, when that time comes for them. My Terv was just a few weeks away from 16 when we had to put him down which is quite a long life for a 65-pound dog. When we had just 1 dog - our first - and the time came to put her down, I thought our hearts would never recover. While it's certainly never easy, it is a bit easier to recover if you have 2 dogs when 1 needs to be put down. After that first experience, we've always had 2 dogs in the household. Hope you can convince hubby to adopt another puppy....maybe "foster" one that he'll fall in love with????!!!
