Feliz día. It's sunny, but with a forcast high of 21ºF, still not able to work outside. Weight has been steady over the past week or so despite (apparent) daily deficits of 2000+ calories. I always understood a deficit of 3500 calories was sufficient to lose one pound of fat; maybe it's a fallacy. I would have lost 4 pounds over the past week instead of 2 if 3500 is correct--and the deficits are correct. Maybe it's a two-to-one fat to muscle conversion. Maybe the METS calculations that indicate the deficits need to be revised with a constant for slow metabolism or my age. The constant would reduce calories burned by half I guess. The standard calculation is: Kg * METS = calories burned per hour. Adding the constant would make it: Kg * METS = calories burned per hour/2.
It may be rose colored glasses, but the fat tire does appear to be shrinking a little.
No matter, I feel great and freshly washed 33s are a little loose.

Could be water. I find that I retain alot of water, and I know right before I drop a pound or two i have to go to the bathroom alot. If you are noticing the changes in your body shape, I bet those pounds you think should have come off the scale will be off soon! Muscle gain is fabulous as well.

Technically, it does take around 3500 calories to lose or gain a pound. But they also don't explain that our bodies are made up of 60% water and many things cause our weight to fluctuate and mask that loss. Hormones, exercise, medications, sickness, etc. can all affect the scale. So if you lose 3 pounds, but gain 4 pounds in bloat from TOM, it will mask your loss for the week. If you have a high sodium meal the night before, you may be up. The most important thing is consistency. If you stick with it, the scale eventually catches up.

Thanks for weighing-in on the post and for the tips, gals. For certain, the variables affecting our bodies, and therefore weight loss, are myriad. Definitely going to stick with the current regimen, good advice.
I don't know who this TOM guy is, but if tries to hand me 4 pounds of bloat I shall slap it out of his hands and kick it into the closest drainage grate.

Lol TOM is Time Of Month for women. You don't experience it, but many women do. I was using an example. Google "why the scale lies" for insight in to water weight fluctuations.
