Been on the weight loss yo yo for about 30 years. Pretty tired of it. Have been on FS for at least 4 of those cycles. Have adopted a slower approach this time that may be maintainable for life. Life long attitudes towards food that center around body shaming, family patterns, coupled with an actual love for the creative aspect of cooking (I was a professional cook for 10 years) and a love of really good food and fine ingredients has made this a difficult journey. Not a sporty person, I did not begin exercising for real until I was in my 40s. Have run several marathons, triathlons, long-distance biking... am now, as I approach 60, more moderate in my exercise. Enjoy hiking. Long time dream is to thru-hike the AT: maybe in retirement which is 10 years off. Spend a lot of my time at work receiving the hospitality of church communities (as a bishop I travel to a different church each week ) and there is always a church supper or potluck in my weekend work plans.
