Lady rant: PCOS has been really messing with my cycles. I never want it to be an excuse. I wish I knew for sure what the effects of this hormonal disorder are on my body. I read that PCOS causes weight gain and cravings and decreases insulin sensitivity. I've been on and off metformin several times - back on this week. I wish I could know exactly what it's doing for me. Which of my weight changes are in my control and which aren't?

I'm assuming I need lower carbs and calories more than average for weight loss in a girl my age, but it's really just an educated guess.

I'm thinking I should not weigh myself weekly, but at the end of each complete cycle. That makes more sense to me for several reasons.

One thing is for sure though: I *CAN* control how many calories I put in my body and what foods they come from, and I'm proud of how well I've done that lately.

Any other ladies with PCOS understand the struggle??

I don’t have PCOS but I have other autoimmunes and I’ve been on and off metformin. It can both suppress and spur your appetite. It also leavhes some of your basic Vitamins and minerals out of your system since it interferes with the digestion of your food. Vitamin B12 I’m pretty sure is one, I think D and selenium are two others, but check Google. Being insulin resistant you will feel better staying on the higher end of the protein and lower carbs. Fats will be pretty neutral snd keep you satiated between meals keeping the blood sugar on an even keel. Magnesium, potassium and salt as always are important for keto. Don’t worry about too much salt unless you have kidney problems as your brain will regulate your salt intake. 🙋🏻

Hi new here. I myself have PCOS. Its neat to find someone else who struggles with the imbalance. I have been on Metphormin myself and actually lost 30 pounds (with the help of diet & exercise) it also helped boost my mood, and helped boost my energy as well. Best of luck to you!!
