It's the first day of August (I bet you knew that). I am down exactly 10 pounds from the first day of July, so I am counting this month's progress as quite good! I lost 13 in June, 10 in July, and I have a goal of 185 (11 more pounds) by the 7th of October. I should be able to make that happen...perhaps even more!

I do expect that the more rapid weight loss will taper off at some time, so I want to make sure I'm not overly-focused on the progression of numbers. There has been a time or two lately, very likely hormone-driven, that I've eaten more than planned at one sitting, and then felt pretty miserable afterward. It's important for me to remember the immediate benefits of feeling better, less sluggish, more energetic, all that, and that it really is rewarding along the way, not just at the end.

Other than losing weight, I have an August goal to try some more new foods. I'm hoping to try jackfruit this month, and to find a couple of new ways to eat both zucchini and green beans, since I have those in the garden.

How are you doing lately? What are you working on with regard to mindset, or trying something new, or permanent change? What are your goals for August?

I like jackfruit, to me, it's like a banana and a pineapple had a baby! It's not very appealing to the eye though! Congratulations on your 10lb weight loss! You killed it!

Jenibeann, I'll probably start with the canned one (I want to make barbecue sandwich with it), but if I can talk the ethnic market guy into cutting one up, I really want to try fresh. We chatted about it once, and he agreed that there might be more people who would try it if they could get a smaller piece of it at first...so we shall see!

Thank you, Topher. I hope you find a way of eating that works for you. I'm trying to tweak mine a bit here and there...I've been tracking a little less carefully (but still measuring things) and doing alright. What I mean is that I will have some weighed lean chicken, some rice, or some potato, or some bread, a vegetable and some fruit, all measured/weighed, and not worry so much about looking up each item. If they don't have a lot added to them, there's not huge caloric difference between rice or potato, for example, and doing this has meant I've got more time for other things...and so far, I'm still losing. :)

I was wondering what jackfruit is. I saw one in H E-B the other day for the first time ever. I like bananas & pineapple so I will have to try it. I guess you peel it like a pineapple?
