Only 1.5 miles walked this AM with DH and doggies before we got rained out. I put in some good time on an XBox workout, so it should make up for the portion of the walk that got rained out.
Still not happy with non-movement of weight; patience has never been my strong suit. Kept carb percentage at 8% yesterday and total carbs at/below 40. Calories are in line. While I've written about keeping away from sugar alcohols, I DID have pancakes w/ SF syrup today....I mean, c'mon....it IS Saturday!!! LOL!! The only drawback is that I have to do some major adjustments the rest of the day so my total carbs don't climb too high.
There's one issue that slips by a lot of people. If you're going to indulge in sugar alcohols, then you've got to watch the database entries! I've seen a lot of instances where the total carbs on a package are 20+ and the sugar alcohols are 15+, so the net carbs come out to 2....or maybe 3. Some database entries for that same product will show 6 TCs, 3 fiber and then 3 NCs. Sure, the NCs come out the same, but a person gets a totally skewed look at their TOTAL carbs! IMHO, one cannot simply go by NCs if you're eating sugar alcohols....you've also got to watch the TRUE, on-the-package, total carbs, as well.
This is especially critical when a person has multiple items with sugar alcohols. Even the Atkins nutritionist has cautioned that if you go over about 10-25 g. of sugar alcohols per serving dose, you MAY be better served to subtract only half that amount to get your effective net carbs....due to a person's own individual sensitivity to the SAs.
If someone is one of the lucky folks that can handle a boatload of SAs, then there's no issue. But if not......you can always do, as I've done, which is to create my own custom food entry for any product containing sugar alcohols, showing the full TC amount, and not share that entry with the database. That way, any time I use the product, it shows up the way I want it to in my food diary with the full TC load shown. I also don't have to worry about the tug-of-war that so often takes place with people adjusting the database of sugar alcohol products one way, and then another.
