I'm a little bit confused.
According to my Atkins book, the 2 cups of cabbage with onions and bacon that I had this morning works out to about 5.4 net carbs.
According to the kitchen it's 9.58 - which count do I go with?

breakfast:
2 cups of cabbage with onions & bacon
5.4

Lunch:
Steak au poivre w/blue cheese & tomatoes dressed with flax seed oil and sea salt, pepper and garlic
4.2

Low carb bar:
2
(I couldn't help it, I was hit with a chocolate craving.)

Dinner:
Pot Roast
1

cheesecake:
4

16.6

Don't forget to subtract the fiber from the total carbs. I have noticed that even with that, it is still a higher count in the kitchen than on my gram counter. I just go by the Atkins carb gram counter.

The new food journal does not calculate "net carbs" only "total carbs". I wrote to fatsecret about that because everyone on low-carb diets counts "net carbs" and total carbs are pretty useless for us.

Hi Sara, I wasn't using the new food journal, I checked it this morning and realized that it didn't give me grams of dietary fiber. :( I ran a recipe through the kitchen counter and got 9.58 after I subtracted the dietary fiber. I think that I agree with you and am going to go by the book. Thanks so much!

Yea, it is a bit off. When I post a recipe I do my own calculation of net carbs according to the Atkins carb gram counter and I post it in the recipe description. I think that is more useful. =) I hope to start a trend for all Atkins Recipes.

That's a great idea - I think that I'm going to do that as well.
