3.2 miles walked today, all with 1 doggie and 1.8 of it with both.
An off-leash dog in the yard of some people, oblivious to us getting nearer, made us double back and go the other way. They were using loud yard implements, so I wouldn't be able to call out for them to call their dog if he would have decided to come on over to where we were.
Today was a nice sunny, warm day with moderate humidity. A front is coming through later today to drop us into fall-like temps, perhaps for good, this season. I'm warming up the pool in hopes of getting one last swim in today or tonight. We don't close the pool, per se, but I'll be cleaning the filter this weekend and doing a few other maintenance tasks as a final cleanup for the season.
Our heat pump, while energy efficient, isn't intended to increase water temperature all that fast. When the overnight air temps start falling below 70 on a regular basis, it just drops the pool temp too much to recover from. Pool covers help, but they're too much work for too little reward....at least the way we use the pool.
In looking over my weight history, it appears I've lost 3 pounds this month. Like everyone else, I would have liked more, but I know there were a few struggles that set me back, so I'll take the 3 pounds and be happy with it. With a bit of extra focus, I should hit a normal BMI in October.

As you know, 3 pounds a month isn't bad at all! Glad you got at lease some of your walk in. I've been curious how far I walk in 40 min (there are no mile markers in this park) and finally remembered to bring my pedometer with me today. Then forgot to clip it on. Oh well. Bet your dogs love going on new routes.

You are doing such a great job - I love your "downward" progress!! Hoping to get out later with my pooch. I have to get back on track with my walking-would make me feel better for sure. Have a good weekend and CONGRATS on the 3 lbs!!

Buffy, another alternative is to see what your pace is on a known distance elsewhere. Then you can just assume your pace is the same in the park and do the math from the time you walk in the park. Even without the pedometer, walking 40 minutes today is a great achievement - esp. in new boots!

Gigi, you know it takes us non-20-somethings a bit longer to lose and it especially takes more time the closer we get to goal. Luckily, we have more patience than most 20-somethings!!

Sandy - Thanks for the suggestion. I'm may try that on a marked trail this weekend. BTW I changed out of the new boots before I walked. Not a big fan of blisters.

Thanks Denise. I'm sure your pooch would love a walk....probably hanging out, tapping the "wrist" of his foot with his other paw...LOL!!!

Sandy very envious of your pool and being able to swim whenever you want. When we are in Az for the winter, the park has a heated swimming pool and jacuzzi, so I take advantage of the pool as much as possible, plus if I walk the entire park it's 3+ miles.

Notfast, when we first had a pool at another house, I enjoyed it SO much because I was finally able to do what I love without having to be seen in public (at 200+ pounds) in a bathing suit! Now, I just appreciate the convenience. DH has said we will NOT have a pool at our eventual retirement home. Not sure why, as he uses the pool almost as much as I do, and I'm the one who does 99.9% of the maintenance. Anyway, got to enjoy it while I can....just in case this is my last home pool. Would love to have a jacuzzi!
