My weight hasn't moved all week, but my belt has gone in a notch from the second to the middle hole. That means, I take it, that my waist is now at 34 inches. That's rather confusing. 37 inch trousers are loose, 36 inch trousers are definitely not. My calves are getting thin. My thighs still seem large. There's still sag in my belly and flab on my sides. Yet I'm less than 25 pounds from my goal weight. My goal is set inside normal BMI, not at the limit. I feel rather puzzled.

I'm puzzled as well, because my BMI right now is that of an overweight person, not an obese one. I'm getting enough exercise most days to keep myself in decent condition, and I'm going to the gym often enough that I know that, while I wouldn't describe myself as physically fit (no Adonis I), I'm in better shape than I've been in decades. I know I am still stiff, and I wish I could figure out how to make myself more limber, but I am, slowly, improving.

Good morning. Not sure how much stock I would put in BMI's. Weren't they made/invented for insurance companies? I know docs use them and we all use them too but I would go with how you feel, how you look, etc. Sounds like you are doing well. I doubt you will ever be without jiggy bits, comes with losing a lot of weight. And no one expects you to be an Adonis - lol - but an attractive, educated, fit person - well, that you already are! And clothing sizes being confusing - welcome to the world of women. You just have to try on lots of different makes cause every manufacture sizes things different. You are going in the right direction which is what really counts. Sorry for the long comments! Have a great week-end.

You have be doing great and have come a long way. Just keep up with what you're doing. As far as the flab. I am 106 and my stomach still has some flab. I think some of this we just have to accept as part of our age. What do you think?

Morning Fledgist, your body is adjusting to all that good stuff you have been doing to it..LOL..I am sure it will all settle down and go your way soon...Yoga is a good way to get limbered up..you don't have to be perfect as thats not what Yoga is all about...I am only talking the stretching ones..really works well for the mid section...I used to do it and really should get back to it as it made me feel better... Thanks, all. I agree I've come a long way. "It is because we have overcome so much that what remains horrifies us" as J.S. Mill wrote (in a completely different context). I don't know about the "world of women", there's that dangly bit I can see in the mirror every morning. Still, you're right, clothing sizes are confusing and manufacturers do lie to us to flatter us. As we age, we do have to accept some loss of tone, but I'm fighting it as best I can.

I'm so excited for you! Again, you are such an inspiration to see how far you've come with such steady success. I can't imagine how exhilarating it must be to be so close to your final goal!! Clothing sizes can't be taken too literally, but that belt notch doesn't lie!! Do you have any big plans for celebration when you reach your final weight?

How nice to be so close to goal you have worked so incredibly hard. Unfortunately losing so much weight we are going to be flabby here and there, I just think when you dress well no one else can see it. But I know you look so much better than you did before, I know you feel a whole lot better and look years younger. You are an inspiration.
