I have let myself gain and balloon out of control the past year. Circumstances throughout my personal and professional life have taken my motivation. Today it changes, today I am getting back on the wagon, I will eat better, I will be more active, I will be a better person. I am ashamed of my body and myself, if anyone reads this please send me a note of encouragement.

You already are a good person - it is a challenge to manage food. Think about your bigger picture goals and make simple lifelike changes a little at a time such as drinking more water, walking more, eating smaller portions, etc. Anything to just help yourself get started.

Good advice from HCB.simple changes that you can keep up, will make it more of a lifestyle than diet.try cooking more of your meals than buying fast food or eating out.
