After much deliberation, calculation, and trepidation, I've decided to go ahead with my hair-brained scheme to try and walk to Mordor! :)

Due to combination of covid, injuries, and underlying health conditions, I realised I hadn't been moving much over the past few years and I was looking for a suitable challenge to motivate me to move more. I wanted a challenge that had a fun goal and gave the feeling of progression.

Then recently I was rewatching the Lord of the Rings films and one line stuck out to me: 'one does not simply walk into Mordor.' And I thought...why not? Let's simply walk to Mordor!

The weekly goals will follow the story from the Lord of the Rings book trilogy. Each week represents a progression in the journey across Middle Earth and will reference key locations and plot points.

What a clever idea. I don’t have a step counter but I am wondering if one can simply swim to Mordor?

Ooh, what an interesting idea! I don't see any reason you couldn't swim to mordor instead. I could add a post to the challenge with the actual distances if you prefer to measure distance rather than steps.

Well, I swim about 3 miles a week so it might take me a wee while to get there 😀🏊‍♀️
