had one heck of a week. Started with a sinus infection then had an allergic reaction to something so have been on prednisone for 4 days (steroids). Itching like crazy, sick as, insomnia from the steroid - yep not a great week. Plus side had one of my darling sister's come to visit and bought myself a bicycle so happy on that front. Did not exercise for 5 days straight as I just didn't feel I could - when I went back to swimming yesterday I really didn't think I'd make 5 laps but managed to push myself and do 40 so pretty chuffed about that. Was amazed at how weak I felt after only that short time off. Went for a 20 min ride last night. Forgot how hard it is on the legs - couldn't push myself any further. Thought I'd do better today but only managed 30 laps today and 15 mins riding. Still 300% better than I was doing November last year, so am feeling content with my progress.
The plan now is to ride a little longer each day so that come April 28th when the pool closes for winter, I'll be able to replace that activity with my pushbike. Will still do aqua robics at least once a week - may even push that to twice depending on finances. Currently doing aqua each Monday night. When I look at my progress, I have come a very long way. I have gone from zero exercise and a very sedentary job where I literally have to sit all day every day, to making sure I get at least one full hour of good exercise in each day, along with a concerted effort to move more during the day as well. That coupled with an intense focus on my dietary input is making changes to my body. I am currently sitting at 15 kg lost. In the past I have dropped weight much quicker, so I have to keep reminding myself this is about the journey and developing new patterns rather than super speedy weight loss. I am to lose this weight for good. I have no intention of allowing this to be another yo yo weight loss/weight gain experience.
I have an opportunity to join a weight loss trial for a new drug to type 2 diabetics. Tossing up the pros and cons of that. I think my Hba1c level may now be a little lower than they require due to my strict dieting, but the steroids I've been on have played havoc with my bsl so maybe I will just scrape in. The other issue is that they want you to have a more or less permanent birth control method in place. IUD being the preferred option apart from tubal ligation. Not sure I'm willing to go that route. Synthetic hormones and I do not make happy together. Maybe I just need to keep plugging away the old fashioned way :-)
