You have done very well - especially when weight loss slows down as you get closer to your goal. The weight training and cardio will really help too. You might appear to gain a little as you get muscle but you will be smaller! Great job!

I love that you remain curious through it all. I don't hear the judgment that seems to so pepper my own thoughts on this topic. thanks for sharing & inspiring me to try it, too.

Eating more (healthy) carbs will likely be more satisfying and might help you to not cheat :)

Christy thank you! You point out what SHOULD HAVE BEEN obvious to me. Since I am gluten sensitive and sugar sensitive I'm not sure which carbs to try out . . . . corn seems to be OK; I am actually scared to try carbs, not just because of the possible weight gain but low carb seems to work with helping out insulin resistance . . . . i might get a crazy sugar crash or if i have something like rice at night it affects my body temperature and i'll be sweating . . . anyway . .. . lunch time!

Try and eat your carbs later in the day and with protein and fat. That might help you sleep more soundly, and mitigate any sugar effects of the carbs.

If you're experiencing food sensitivities, I'd be very picky about the corn you eat. Make sure it's organic and not GMO Bt corn (which constitutes about 80-90% of non-organic sweet corn grown in the US.) which has DNA to make pesticides, which can easily be acquired by your intestinal flora (bacteria) and make more pesticides, thus turning your intestines into a "pesticide factory", ripping holes in your digestive system (what the Bt toxin is designed to do to insects) and cause even MORE food sensitivities. Removing all GMO's from my diet also made my food sensitivities vanish as well. But that's just my two cents, for what's its worth.

Agree with ChristyLA. Also, with your renewed commitment to exercise you will burn more calories.

I don't know much about gluten besides it being wheat, and I don't even know what foods have wheat in them besides the obvious, like wheat bread and wheat pasta, so you should definitely do some research on gluten foods and read food labels. Food companies are supposed to state at the bottom of the ingredients list whether the food contains any allergy-type foods, like wheat, soy, and milk, so make sure to look there. I'm not sure if rice has gluten in it. But if you're going to eat grains, go for the unprocessed kind that you can get at health food stores or places like Trader Joe's, if you have them in your area. These places sell bags/boxes of grains that are only the grains themselves and nothing added to them. They are the true "whole grains." They shouldn't affect your blood sugar as much, especially when eaten with protein and only a single serving of them (read the box/bag for the serving size - which is a good habit to practice in general to not overeat). As far as your food intolerances, you might be safe with starchy veggies, so start with those. I might be looking into going gluten/grain/starch free soon, so I will be doing my research on gluten as well. Some foods are labeled "gluten-free," and in some stores, there are "gluten-free" sections, so keep an eye out for them. Good luck!

I just found an oriental market that has black rice. I will have to try it. I love red rice, it has such a good nutty flavor.

Do you have a Trader Joe's near you? They now carry frozen, precooked, sprouted red Jasmine rice. Sprouted is supposed to be better; easier to digest, and protein more accessible. It was very good, and super easy to heat up.
