I'm thinking about putting together a People Chow (Soylent) 3.0 recipe for my down days on the 4:3 diet (500 calories). It's a way to vary the monotony of diet shakes and will probably wind up being cheaper and better for me: no sugar and sodium. I'm going to order the ingredients one-by-one from Amazon.

Body fat: 28.05 (somewhat dehydrated). Today is a down day on the 4:3 diet (500 calories). Half hour nap. Nice thing about the Android for Sleep app is that you can set an alarm so that you don't oversleep.

Exercise: wall slides (planks for your legs) six reps of 30 seconds each, 19 minutes of stretching in bed, 26 minutes of leg exercises on the mat with 1 1/2 pound ankle weights, 33 minutes of leg exercises on the chair with ankle weights, 20 minutes of leg exercises with resistance bands and yoga block, 30 minutes of rowing.

The Lifeline fitness band system arrived today. Comes with three 40-pound bands and an accessory to attach to doors. There's a trick to securing the bands to the handles. The accompanying poster is pretty rudimentary - shows exercises but doesn't outline a whole body workout. I would think a book on resistance bands would be a good investment. The DVD that was supposed to come with it was MIA. Wrote to Woot but haven't heard back.

Hey Chris - saw your recipe for People Chow and the word soylent and had to grin a bit. What ARE you up to over there?? FWIW, check the prices on some of your ingredients at vitacost dot com. I've found them to be cheaper than Amazon on many of the things I order. Free shipping at $49. The lifeline fitness bank thing sounds interesting! I'm always impressed at your routine each day. Lots of variety and you've remained really dedicated. Kudos!!

Is it green? Sorry, had to ask. Imagines of Edward G. Robinson.

Thanks, Vickie 5996, for the compliment and the tip. I've sort of backed off my enthusiasm for People Chow after reading Amazon reviews on the ingredients that raise caution flags, particularly the GGNC Men's Mega Men Sport, Vanilla Bean. "My only concern is that there is a few extreme dosages such as Thiamin, Riboflavin, and B6 which are 3330%, 2940%, 2500% of your daily value." "According to an article on SFGate.com, adults between 18-50 are recommended to take 1.3 mg of vitamin B-6 in a day. In addition, 'too much vitamin B6 in supplement form can cause adverse reactions. An excess of vitamin B6 can cause sensory neuropathy. It can also cause painful skin lesions, gastrointestinal problems, nausea and heartburn.'" Then again, once you start stripping out ingredients,I wonder whether it's effective. If you're going to the trouble, maybe it's better to stick with a fruit smoothie to get your 500 calories. Suddenly Slimfast doesn't sound so bad... I may wait for People Chow version 4.0. I assume People Chow lists Amazon because they're getting a cut.

ClassicRocker, it's not green. However, you do turn green after taking it. :->

Thanks for the kind words, Vickie 5966. I've been thinking about getting an indoor exercise cycle that I could alternate with the rowing for even more variety in cardio. Hope I could get a cross-training benefit. I researched putting an outdoor bike on an indoor training stand. However, in my small apartment, there isn't much room to maneuver. Assembling and adjustment look a little tricky and once you're set up, you're stuck there. Also, for the cost of a training stand and riser block, I could get a compact indoor bike that would be easier to move around.

It is always interesting to see what you are up to next, as well as the results you are planning to get and the results you got! Good luck!

Thanks, kattay. As I said, I throw stuff against the wall and see if it sticks. Keep adjusting the fuel mix, blah, blah, blah. If I can make it through this month, I feel I will have built some momentum. Heat and humidity are de-motivators for me.
