I did my morning wake-up stretches, which clock in at around 12 minutes to complete. Most of them are short but they do go around the world, so to speak. No tension in my back as I write this, thank goodness.
I wish I had a mat that was longer. I'm 5 foot nine, probably five foot eight by now due to age shrinkage and poor posture - LOL - and I can't stretch out all the way. It's a Reebok premium fitness mat that I got at Target. Another possibility would be to get another one and put them side-by-side so I'd have more room to flail around. When I got home, I couldn't find the strap that was supposed to be included. Wish I had it but after looking at reviews of Yoga straps, I'm leaning towards the Stretch-Out Strap which supposedly allows you to take stretches to a new level.
Today was a dumbbell day. Everything got pushed back a day thanks to my Monday trip to Kroger. Feeling a little soreness in my traps. Maybe it's an illusion but I think I'm doing better with my lunges. I don't lunge too far because I don't want to overdo it and wind up with a dumbbell on my foot. After that, it was 25 minutes of leg strengthening exercises with the ankle weights which left me with some mild soreness. I did 45 minutes of cycling while watching Father Brown tonight. An hour on the stationary cycle while watching "The Blacklist." Twenty-three minutes of guided meditation. Took a nap. Had a cup of nuts. Having a Clif bar as a reward for doing dumbbells.
RIP Tommy Ramone of The Ramones. That hits home because I'm a Ramones fan and he was 65, which I'm fast closing in on (July 22).
