I am re-reading The South Beach Diet. I tried this years ago with results, but then gave up before ever reaching my goal. I will start this diet again by April 20th and hope to see it as more of a lifestyle change than a temporary fix this time.

Doday is day 2 for me in Phase 1. I did this last year and lost like 8lbs before my 2weeks was up, so I stopped. I am confident that this is a great start because it is really not a diet. It is a healthier eating lifestyle that you are slowly adapting and easing into. If you prepare snacks and meals ahead of time, maybe even by the day or week which ever is easier, it's not that hard to follow. As long as I know what I am eating the day before and I can plan and prep, I do fine. If I don't take a lunch to work, it gets costly.

The first time I followed South Beach three years ago - I tried to remain on Phase I TOO LONG. I got sooooo burned out and quit. Your body needs HEALTHY carbs. Experimenting with these in a gradual manner has been my "fat secret." Keep the faith!
