This week's experiment (forcing protein) has come to a premature end. I am gaining weight, bloated, and not enjoying my meals.

Am going back to the way I was eating 2 weeks ago. I was enjoying my WOE and losing weight. What was wrong with that?

At least I can say I tried.

While some protein is good for you there are many different kinds, no need to force some on yourself when less or different kinds are just as healthy and do not have the negative effects you were experiencing. I am not sure what program you were following but if your first plan was allowing you to loose weight and feel good and it did not harm yourself why do that to your self.

Isn't it funny (as in "why are we so weird" funny) how we mess with success? I feel great and lose weight on a vegan diet, yet I abandoned it for nearly a year, and I couldn't even tell you why if you asked.

There's so much dogma in diet. Pritikan, Zone, Atkins, Paleo... the sects are endless. I'm of the opinion now that each person has a right way of eating that will see them lose weight. I'm finding now that the 'dogma' I used for my weight loss is far different from the 'dogma' I need for this slow weight gain. I'm also finding that my inability to eat a lot of carbs is slowly shifting and I seem to naturally be drifting into higher carb, lower fat territory (relative to what initially worked.) You can see that transition slowly taking place if you check my diet log. Your body is your laboratory and it's up to you to do the experiments until you find your solution. You're doing great. Keep an open mind and keep working it. Wholefood is correct about complementary proteins. You may be getting slightly less than you think, but any protein taken in that is incomplete will still be used for calories.

Also she may be getting more than she thinks. Since many days often maybe some weeks even I don't eat animal proteins my protein counts can look really low but my body is fine with it. I make sure I'm mixing up the grains, beans/legumes, and seeds over the course of the day. 40-50 grams is plenty but it doesn't show on the tracker. Yesterday I blew it as I forgot to tuck either my leftover fish or the container of beans I had ready in my salad lunch I didn't get enough protein so my body responded with a migraine.

Thanks for commenting on Buffy's post. I am O Positive blood type. I am best losing weight eating meat and doing low carb, but I need to really focus on it and not cheat.
