Like another person on this site, I also went pants shopping this weekend. I had some Kohl's cash to use up, so I thought I'd treat myself to some pants of a brand I like, that were on sale. My existing dress pants are pretty darn baggy these days, even for dress pants.

So....I actually got to shop in the regular Misses' sizes, not in Plus sizes, although I looked in both sections, esp. for clearance stuff. I got myself 2 pair of pants, both size 16. I might have even opted for 14's but I wanted to be able to wear them easily NOW. Then, I tried on tops and was able to fit into the XLs (even at my ideal weight, I'll fit into a Large). It felt a bit strange getting into tops that are more form-fitting and not minding it too much! But, I let those go for now. Still, as I tried on these clothes, I actually SAW the smaller me for the first time. I'm starting to look "elongated!"

For comparison, at my beginning weight, I'd be lucky to fit into size 20 slacks, a 2XL top (3XL's were often better), and a 20-22 dress.

I've been bringing a few things out of storage in smaller sizes. But I'm finding that what I had stored away just depended on what climate we were living in the last time I was a particular size, as well as what job I had and what its dress requirements were. Still, it's certainly better than having to find all new clothes; either new at a store or used at a thrift/resale shop.

We have a combination business and shopping trip planned to go back to Atlanta later this spring. I'm hoping to score a few things there, although even if my weight loss plan holds, I'll still be 25-32 pounds away from goal.

Way to go Sandy. I too tried on some clothes and was very surprised at the sizes that I could get into. It is an awesome feeling, isn't it? I finally went through a bunch of clothes and got rid of 2 30 gallon bags full. I couldn't believe it. I will be shopping this week for a new wardrobe. Good luck to you in your search for new dudes. It sure is exciting, huh? Talk soon. HUGS:)

Wow...2 30-gallon bags??!!! That's REALLY dropping some weight! In clothing, of course. I'm having a hard time getting rid of the larger clothes. Sure, some I'm ready to part with, no problem. But some of the nicer things - and jeans too - I'm just storing. DH has had a couple surgeries in the last few years and the last one, due to them opening his chest, resulted in a large amount of swelling for several weeks! He was seriously many pounds heavier. It was a good thing he had some larger clothing items he could wear during that period. I guess I'm just thinking that if I should ever be in that position, esp. once retired and on a more limited income, I'd want some clothing all ready for me too. Strange thoughts, I know... Have fun shopping - the sales are good too right now.

Sandy, it is such an awesome feeling, isn't it to go and try on clothes and really "see" the "new" you for the first time? Congrats, you have done fantastic and should be very, very proud of all that you have accomplished. Way to go.....happy 2011!!

Thanks Stef. This was the first time I thought I was actually beginning to look like the old (new) me. Not 100% of course, but seeing more of my slimmer self than my heavier self. Hope you're feeling better...hard to avoid not coming down with something or other this time of year.
