I've been wondering...should I track my calories as well as my carbs? I'd like to know if anyone else tracks calories and carbs and if so how many calories are they averaging?
I average about 13 carbs / 1300 calories per day. I wonder if I'm eating enough.

I don't track my calories every day but I go up to 1800 when I do calculate them. According to the Atkins book you only have to track calories if counting carbs isn't enough to help you lose weight. It looks like you lose weight just fine. :) Your graph looks great! You can look online for a BMR calculator (basic metabolic rate) that is the minimum amount of calories you burn if you lay in bed all day. Mine was 1500. They say you should eat at least your BMR because any activity you do above that burns more calories and if you eat less than that your body goes into starvation mode and your metabolism slows down.

Thanks Sararay - that's a big help. I checked it out and I have to admit I'm a little scared of the number it returned...mine was 2101. I'm not sure I can eat that much :) but it definately tells me not to get too hung up on my calories. Thanks again!

I wouldn't get too worried about the calories at this point in the game. As you get closer to your goal, its going to get harder to lose the weight. And your BMR number goes down, too. Then you'll need to keep an eye on them. And I agree with Sara - your graph is AWESOME!!! You should see mine. It's like a Texas plain. If my dog ran away on it I'd have to watch him leave for days!!

I love all of the attitudes. It's great to see how your graph looks. I want one just like it. I don't worry about my calories at this point either but realize that I may have to later. Keep being an inspiration and have a great weekend.
