I watched Biggest Loser tonight. No judgment here, i just want to reign myself in so I don't get there.

I watch 1000 pound sisters but I grew up with tammy and amy lol even made it in one episode.

Do they still put people on 800 calories a day coupled with 8 hours of cardio damaging their metabolism for years? I can't watch it. They don't need views for that nonsense.

I also would like to add, that reading all the mishaps that happens in everybody’s life including mine, I could see how life can turn you into not being in control anymore. So I hope that doesn’t happen to any of us

My take away was both the trainers have had issues so they can relate to the contestants, which I appreciate and I think that is more real. Last time I watched the first way in people lost 20+ pounds. This first episode they lost an average of about 8 so the food/exercise must be different.

Good to know. I enjoy seeing people overcome struggles but it can be hard to watch if I think they are just being exploited for good TV and that is probably where the Biggest Loser ended up. So hopefully the program can find a better balance. But it is motivating to see people fight hard and make it

For 600 lb life dr now puts them on a 1200 cal low carb diet. These ppl are in a race against time, most of us here aren’t at that extreme.

IIRC there was a study of former biggest loser contestants. Predictably, they all put the weight back on.

I loved watching Biggest Loser the first time around. For me it was captivating..seeing what triggered people. It was also motivating...if those people could move and workout like that, so could I. I'm eating 1400 cal low carb diet and doing hour long workouts with the Biggest Loser cds. They are tough. I still find the trainers to be motivational, esp Bob. There's real pride in completing those workouts and seeing the progression.

I had to watch too. I am a reality tv junkie. @jimmiepop, idk what iirc means (you kids and your textspeak! 😀) but actually the study you reference showed that not only do they gain the weight back, but losing that way wrecks their metabolism and the body does everything it can to put the weight back on. The body is pretty ingenious when it comes to self preservation.
