You have done amazingly well sticking to your plan & not eating what you were supposed to on the fast. Maybe you can set another short term challenge for yourself. When you're at the grocery store try telling yourself, it's not a bargain if you can't or shouldn't eat it. Sometimes I wander thru the bakery section or the snack aisle looking. I read labels and try to decide if I could realistically eat just a serving. If not I usually talk myself out of buying it.

You are doing well. It is not easy to come out of a fast or elimination diet like that so do not be too hard on yourself. Be prepared for you body to present you with some "demands"

Thanks Sherry - I've set up several challenges in the past, mostly dealing with not eating processed foods. One I failed on the 3rd or 4th day. But I have thought of setting up another challenge that is not quite as strict as the Daniel fast. It's nice when others do the challenge too. I tend to be competitive so I like to try to "win" the amount of weight loss. Even though plenty of people aren't trying to lose, just maintain. I may set up something to allow some non plant choices but to eat mostly plants. Thanks Liv - I always appreciate your support. I'm just disappointed in myself. I have a challenge tomorrow going out to lunch with some friends to a buffet. Hopefully I'll make good choices. I have to think about my gallbladder when being tempted by things high in fat.

Brava, Fritzy!! You not only nailed the DF, but you also overcame a possible binge and threw away the tempting food. This is my victory dance for you 💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼💃🏼😘

Thanks Eva! I didn't look at it like that I "overcame a possible binge"! Just talked to my sister (she lives just a couple blocks away) and she is going to her daughter's house later today and would love to take the cake and the cheese. So things are improving.

Nice job on the fast. Sounds like a good learning experience. You really went to extra measures with the ruffles - garbage disposal. I just throw mine in the trash :) My experience, if it's in my kitchen, that is giving my mind permission to eat it.

YOU did Great! Be proud of yourself!😁

Oh yeah, how do I find out more about the Daniel Diet please. I've never heard of it. Would love more info. Thanks.☺

Great job on the Daniel Fast! I didn’t realize you were having gallbladder attacks so often, Fritzy- very sorry to hear that. The only trigger I knew of for me was onions in any form. But I avoided garlic, too. I already avoided food from cellophane bags as my eating plan, and rarely eat breaded then fried food. French fries and grilled burgers and pork chops are staples for me, though, and never gave me a problem before surgery.

Thanks Bruce! I need to pay attention to ingredients at the grocery store. I try to go shopping with a list and stick to the list and NOT to go to the grocery store when hungry. I just buy everything in sight that I like. Thanks RgaDawg, I thought about the garbage can but the garbage disposal was closer. Thanks Aymla. You can google the Daniel fast. There is lots of information and lists of acceptable foods.

Great job on the fasting! You worked hard and succeeded! Once I start trashing food, I start hating having food around that I can't eat. I break things down into portions so I know when I am past my limits - I have lots of contaiers and I use them as much as I can to prep snacks and meals. I portion out cheese that way into 1 ounce pieces. Sounds like you know what to do next!

I exaggerated my interpretation of the situation, Fritzy, sorry! :-D But you should equally be proud of your ability to 1) be aware of what was going on, 2) listen to your inner wisdom, and 3) take the action needed to cut damage.

Thanks Tom! I had 2 or 3 gallbladder "attacks" about 6 years ago. After the painful episodes I went to my doctor who ran lots of tests including an ultra sound. She told me the ultra sound showed gallstones and recommended not to over eat and to try to eat a low fat diet. I didn't have any more problems until just recently. The surgeon wasn't surprised the first "attack" happened the day after Thanksgiving. I think many people have this issue around the holidays when we tend to over eat. I had 3 episodes in a 2 week period, but since then I often feel uncomfortable after eating but nothing like the pain before I went to the doctor. I also ate plenty of burgers, fries and pork chops in the 6 years in between episodes. That's what I don't understand. I will ask my doctor about the increased risk of gallbladder cancer and also ask him what he would do if he were me. Thanks Abba - I've done what you've suggested as far as making reasonable portions of foods. But that doesn't always work. I've been known to keep going and getting "another" serving of whatever snack it is. It's usually best for me to keep things out of the house that I over eat. Eva - I liked your interpretation of the situation!

You did a great job , 99 right steps. I don't know if I could do the Fast. Give yourself a few minutes to tell yourself that you really did well and let it sink in.

DP - I weighed myself this morning before I ate the chips. There was no change from yesterday which was the last day of the fast. After eating the chips I ate the way I had planned for the rest of the day. I'd been craving Grape Nuts. I had a larger portion than I planned, a serving is just 1/2 cup but I couldn't stop more from pouring out of the box. I had the cup of hot chocolate I have most mornings. It's my ritual while others have coffee and it gives me 12 or so grams of protein. I will weigh myself in the morning and post it. I've been drinking water all day long. I always think it will just flush fatty foods out of my system. Thanks Ashley! Thanks Perks I appreciate the kind words. Although I didn't break the fast the way I intended I am hoping to prevent any more damage. Wifey, I have to figure out a way to get over Ruffles! I had gone about 3 months without buying any. I do okay when I take a list to the grocery store, go after eating breakfast so I am not hungry and I avoid the aisle with the chips, soda and the other isle with cookies and crackers. I am not feeling any pain. When I've had gallstone pain it's when I eat until I am full and although I ate 3 or 4 "servings" of chips I could have had more, I wasn't full. I know myself well, I knew I had to get rid of the chips or I'd finish them. Actually a few hours later when I started to get hungry I thought about the chips, so was glad they were gone.
