Well the news was not great. The arthritis is too advanced. The doctor showed me where the cartilage was thinning. He showed me the bone spurs. He showed me where cysts have begun forming on the bone. As a result, he feels I would not benefit from surgical intervention. So I'm in limbo: not advanced enough for a replacement, but too advanced for a repair. He suggested we try a steroid injection, a round of anti-inflammatories, and PT. I can't even tell you how utterly deflated I feel. The injection seems to work for some people, maybe I will get lucky and this will hold me until I need a replacement. In the meantime, I'm just devastated. I broke down and ate a bag of chips and dip. First time since I discovered the nightshade sensitivity more than a year ago. It wasn't as good as I had remembered, and it certainly didn't make me feel any better. Saw the Naturopath to follow up on the blood tests. I was extremely low on vitamin D, so we added that to my regimen. It may help with the depression I've been having. Also added a B-Complex. I printed out my crazy cycles for her and she has decided to switch me from a supplement which helps metabolize estrogen to a supplement with helps stabilize perimenopausal symptoms. Of course it had to be ordered, so I haven't started it, yet. Still trying to get through a day without crying.
