Walked 3.3 miles this morning, semi-bundled-up....dogs along for 2.6 of it.

Yesterday, it seems I had an attack of the sugar alcohols! Yeowza! I only had 2 pieces of a sugar-free chocolate sampler I gave DH as a Christmas gift but, wow, it packed a huge wallop! Wish I would have kept the pamphlet that came inside where they probably gave the nutrition facts for each specific type of chocolate. A basic overview was on the box and listed just about every SA as being a possible ingredient. I've not had a problem with SAs unless I have an overload of them....which I haven't done since way before I started this journey.

The end result was a lot of stomach pains, knots, churning, cramps, etc. I won't be buying THAT particular manufacturer's s/f candies anymore! Surprisingly, DH has had a larger load of the SAs from that box and has had no ill effects. Because he and I ate the same stuff yesterday and the chocolates were the only "new" thing for me, I'm pretty sure the s/f chocolates were the culprits. And just 2 pieces did that...wow.

Lucky for me, today I'm all better and back to my usual (ab)normal self! LOL!

Sandy, I have the same problem with the S/F chocolates...man do they tear me up. I have decided that if I am going to eat chocolate, it will be the 90% cacao chocolate bars. At least there are no SA's in there. Hope you are feeling better today! Have an awesome evening!

LOL so glad you are your abnormal self...some chocolate does me the same way...I only do half as much walking as you..but I plan on doing more later..taking it slow..Hace a great evening...:O)

I still have never (knowingly) tried sugar alcohols and you have never provided any incentive to do so - LOL. Glad you are feeling better now and hope your weather improves so you and doggies can have a more enjoyable work out.

Ooh, that doesn't sound good. Hope you feel better. It does sound like the chocolates were the culprits. Good job on the walk with the pups in spite of it all.

Stef, you're right. The regular chocolate I had over the holidays gave me no problems whatsoever. I suspect this particular brand just really overloaded the SAs in each piece....never again for that brand!

Bren, you're doing great getting back into a treadmill routine. I also suspect all the walking you do getting those cows fed adds up to a fair amount of mileage, too. Hope you've still got some sunshine....ours went away - sigh.

Buffy, I think I've tried a fair amount of products with SAs in them. Most of the time with the candies, I have less than a full serving and I'm OK...nothing like this reaction! Looking forward to your review of the Eades' book once you receive it and get it read!

Heather, as bad as this felt, I'm thankful it wasn't the flu! At least I was pretty sure that I'd feel bad for a very limited amount of time and, luckily, I was right. Doggies and I headed out again today and enjoyed the weather, even if there wasn't any sunshine.
