3.1 miles walked this AM, a good portion of it with doggies. It was warm and humid but that's all about to change later today.
The thrift store where I volunteer is closed today, so I'll be home all day...kind of a bummer. But, I managed to get the steaks grilled not long ago, in advance of the front coming through with winds, rain, and much colder weather.
I'm fighting through a bit of a funk that makes me want to eat everything. Yesterday, at the grocery store, even high-carb items, that normally don't phase me at all, began to look really, really good to me. Stove Top cranberry dressing (a new flavor to me)....chocolate brownie crisps (great photo on the box)....well, you get the idea. No, I didn't buy them or eat them. I just ended up eating more of the somewhat-lower-carb trigger foods at home. Not sure that was all that much of a victory. My weight's above 148, but at least I've got 5 days to try to bring it back in line....if I can.
I'm not blaming this episode on anything other than me....I'm the one in charge. But I have to wonder if a family situation affected me more than I thought it did. Didn't think it was any big deal initially, but maybe on some level it was. A family member had a birthday and I sent off a couple gifts that I thought they would really like. Also made a phone call, but they weren't home so had to leave a message...twice. Received a one-line email that said thanks for the gifts, sorry I missed your call, and that was it - really. I guess I was expecting a little more, as this isn't a 12-year-old being forced to write a thank-you note at a parent's direction! It's the giving that's important, not the reaction, but I guess my feelings got hurt. Next time, I'll just send them something generic from a catalog (OK...not really...).
NOW....enough of this!!! Can't dwell on this or I'll end up in the funk I was in yesterday.
DH will have a work luncheon the day before T'giving that is "international" in theme. When they did this before, it didn't really stay international, but ended up with everyone just bringing in whatever they cooked/baked best. DH and I are calling my spinach pie "Greek," so it fits into the international theme PLUS it fits into our WOE and we get to eat at least 1 thing that afternoon. When we did this before, we had to make sure we got to it before too many others, as it got rave reviews and there were NO leftovers!
