3.1 miles walked this morning. Breezy cool day but sunny. I had to circle back to the house to change from jeans into shorts and to ditch the jacket.
I have the day planned for household projects and boy, does the household need help! Somehow, one of our clocks "fell back" 2 hours instead of one....how does that happen? And, of course, it's one of those that's difficult to get to, but I fixed it this AM as I had to move the ladder back into the garage from painting anyway.
Lots of laundry and general cleaning to do. And, I need to get a few more pantry items set up to go into Thanksgiving baskets that are being collected by our church. Then....I've got to finish up fitting everything into the Operation Christmas Child boxes, as well, to hopefully, take into the donation center this weekend. These are good things to do anyway, but it also helps free up some space for eventual holiday needs.
These last few days, I've been thinking of several buddies that have fallen along the wayside. If anyone's been on site for more than a few months, I'm sure it's happened to you, too. There's never a shortage of newbies just starting out, but there are fewer and fewer active people as the months go on in their journeys. Unfortunately, it's not because they've all attained their goals and gone on to focus on other things.
What I'm always sad to see are those who've been working diligently for MONTHS and MONTHS....who've lost a significant amount of weight.....who've worked through the inevitable ups and downs in their journeys and continued to carry on.....and then they're gone...with maybe half their goal to go. Sometimes people need a break, but that's not what I'm talking about. These are the people who've slowly but surely drifted away....and I was thinking about them and how much I miss them. There are at least 3 who were here when I began and were very active and successful, even though they still had a ways to go to achieve their goals. They helped so many of us, but they're gone. I have a nagging feeling they're probably struggling with their WOE, but I sincerely hope they are not.
Today, I'm thankful for:
* a diminishing headache (could it really be on the way out???!!!), * a scenic, safe neighborhood to walk in, * a day I think I can get a few to-do's done, * beautiful, cool weather, and * a body that's nearly healed from that tumble I took on Saturday.
