Hi every one of my buddies! I’m feeling like a brand new person! Other than an annoying cough, what else is there to complain about? I felt special with all your get-well wishes here, and I’m very touched. I really do have a wonderful support system with you, and I cherish you ALL! I hope you feel the same about me…
OK…The human experiment is still underway…I promised to turn this new Atkins diet experience into an interesting current events topic for us all to share, so I’m eager to pick up where I left off!
Thankfully, the induction flu period of time has passed, BUT I need to make it clear that most of the sickness wasn’t due to the Atkins diet!! There’s a horrible virus going around right now! (I probably started it! Hee hee!) Otherwise, this week would have been just UNCOMFORTABLE and nothing more! Day 6 A good day! I had a doctor appt and was looking forward to talking to him about all this diet madness. He’s very familiar with the Atkins, and had so much to share about it. I was captivated by all the advice he gave me, too! We talked about an ideal weight for me. I weighed in at 114, and I’m 5’ ¾” tall (somehow I got shorter!) and after much discussion and weighing all the factors involved, he concluded that a good goal for me to strive for is around 108 give or take a couple of pounds. Sounded perfect to me! Next week, he scheduled me for lots of blood work to check for deficiencies, prescribed a vitamin, suggested a couple of supplements, and sent me on my way! Nothing like a green light!! Day 7 Thursday, I woke up with oily skin! Wow! That was a major change, you can imagine my shock! It wasn’t oily like a bad thing, but oily where it used to be dry, you know? I didn’t see that coming!
Ketones were at a moderate level…progress once again! Yipeee! I feel a different kind of energy to start my day with. I guess I can say that the energy I had before was ‘fake’…like it came from an artificial source, rather than my own body ya know? That’s been the biggest WOW factor of my experience so far! I am about ready to sign on as a preacher woman, and hold the Atkins book up high! LOL
Day 8 You wouldn’t believe what I had for breakfast…it held me over for 5 hours and I’m not kidding! Before this diet, I was experiencing a feeling similar to hypoglycemia, so to be able to go that long now is amazing. SO anyway, I was in a hurry about ready to run out the door with my honey-do list, so I drank about 1/8 cup’s worth of heavy cream, which doesn’t taste too bad really! So far the weight feels like it’s pouring off of me! Every day there is something substantially different with me. I see hip bone crests, and that fat roll around my mid section is now just slightly pronounced, stuff like that! The battery died in my scale so I can’t tell you exactly how much, but I have another doctor appt. next Wednesday to check on my progress and go over blood tests, etc., so I’ll find out then. BUT…I’m telling you, I feel like I could easily reach my goal within a week or two, and that’s more than I’ve been able to do in months!
Day 9 was yesterday. Biggest shock: I don’t feel like I’m on a diet at all. Most pleasant surprise: I’m not hungry. Happiest moment: I’m getting thinner because I can feel and SEE it! Biggest surprise: I’m not worried about making sure I’m home during meal time so I don’t pass out for lack of energy (hypoglycemia). Biggest lesson: I have learned to avoid ALL sources of carbs right now, and that includes the 2-3 cups of salad and veggies I’m allowed.
To be continued! Hugs to you all!! BAD ANDEEEE!!
