Every week I weigh myself about halfway through the week to see where I am and make sure I am still on track. So yesterday morning I weighed in and found that I had gained a pound. I was shocked since I felt I had done well. It took me all day to discover what it is. I had some pita chips and salsa on Saturday and like the last time I ate them I gained a pound. So now I know that excess salt does make me retain water and it's best to avoid it. I love learning about my body and what is best for me.

The thing is you don't want to avoid it the rest of your life. It's important to enjoy things we love in moderation to make losing weight sustainable. Our weight fluctuates through out the day because of water weight any way. Just drink some extra water when you have salty type foods.
