Going the wrong way the whole week, had too much "crap". Even last 3 gym days I had too many dirty carbs and just felt like compete dog 💩 in the gym. That's not usually the case. Cutting the crap back to a minimum and adding more sweet potatoes and/or rice to get extra carbs. Yeah the dirty 💩 is delicious but I don't respond to them well as I already knew but wanted to try again. Sooo this confirms again i can't eat anything i want, be in a deficit and still lose weight. I need to balance my macros to fit my individual needs. Maybe I can eat higher carbs with rice or other sources.

Also going to start tracking sodium and potassium to see what effects my weight, and if I can find a good ratio. Going to up the healthy fruit and spinach.. Hopefully it goes good.

So the twinkie diet is not for me..

Lol on Twinkie diet. I do okay with ‘dirty’ carbs but I can’t fit a lot of them in on 1500 or less daily so I guess I really don’t know how I’d react to a lot of them. We are all different though and maybe your body just doesn’t know what to do with them like it does rice and veggies. I do find that if my sodium is above 3000 one day then I won’t drop the next day and may even gain from fluid retention. Perhaps your issues could be with the sodium? ‘Dirty’ carbs as you call them tend to be higher sodium. At least the ones I enjoy are 😉. Good luck!

Yeah hopefully I'll find out in the next couple weeks. Yes they probably do have more sodium and fat for that matter..

What are “dirty carbs?” Please, know that your kidneys are the final arbiter in sodium balance. Every cell in our bodies is its own universe. They sort, modify and sometimes ignore what we take in. Think of the almost endless variety of diets that our ancestors and our contemporaries have thrived on.

Oof, that sucks. I feel and perform the same.

For me to lose around 2.5lbs of fat a month l use dirty carbs as a blue moon treat and not as a daily substance.

Thanks Chris. Yes Murph I don't daily, just more the last week as there was food at work etc, and my wife saying she's not going to eat a full bag of doritos she bought. I don't like wasting food. I usually feel great in the gym after a 12.5 work night were I commonly eat some Greek yogurt and avocado toast prior.

I'm going to make a giant container of basmati rice later and give that a try. I already have some sweet taters at home.

So you go from a balance diet to a junk diet?
2018年 11月 10日 投稿者: rosio19
My rule is 80% food vs 20% junk (Bun, meat, and cheese is food according to me Vs ice cream/cookies junk)

Dirty carbs hit me the same way. For me they can impact me as much as a 15% decline in workout strength. At my age I need all I can get. I cut back on mine this week. Focus and win.

WHaaaat??? Yay for you! I have often said it is quality as well as quantity. You can eat a ton of carbs with all your muscle tissue but if you feel like crap, it's not worth it. Keep going for the good stuff - feel happy!

I never was never on a junk diet, I just ate too much under certain circumstances. I almost never have cookies, candy, or chips. I still didn't have much, just enough to affect my performance in the gym. Yes I'm with you Adam I was running at 80% without enough juice to finish sets I usually do no problem.

Know you will be able to figure this out. Supporting all your hard work. 💪

I just don't see how sugar from certain sources causes any difference in energy. Glucose is glucose. Hell, marathon competitors eat straight sugar. But if some of you think it affects you, stay away I guess.

You'll feel better on 500g of pizza, I'll feel better on 500g of sweet potatoes. Not surprising people have different energy levels on different foods. It's never one size fits all in my book.

Those aren't the same macros though. I'm talking about stored energy. Liver and muscle glycogen. I can see performance suffering if your macros are out of wack, maybe but I have never heard of the quality of stored glycogen being different. Curious if the sluggishness has more to do with bloat from sodium more than anything. I have just never seen a study that proved that sugar from fruit is worse than sugar from pure sugar cane as far as glycogen is concerned. Or a sweet potatoe vs. white bread. I don't see why it would matter. They differ in how long it takes to break down perhaps which affects satiety but never heard of there being a difference in power out put at the gym.

Diablo360x I really liked your posts about all sugars being an appropriate source of carbohydrates. Very succinct. I have posted similar things a number of times. ..... to great blowback. The body doesn’t CARE about the source of macro- and micronutrients. Dirty and clean carbs are all the same to cells, that label perpetuates the good food bad food myth. What’s bad about cookies and cake? They contain protein (eggs, milk, gluten), carbohydrates (flour, sugar) and some fat (butter, oil). Those ingredients have vitamins and minerals. Sounds like they are perfect foods 🤷‍♀️. Of course, total caloric intake is important but individual foods are not medicine or poison. I also read a lot of people posting that what they eat determines their energy at any one moment, their moods, how often they get a headache, etc. What about all the other variables in their lives or environment?

Diablo360x You think vegetable oils are toxic? The evidence for that looks weak to me. I looked up Mark Hyman and the Wellness Mama website. As far as the composition of our cells, you may have overlooked the actions of the GI tract that breaks down everything we ingest into the component parts before they are absorbed. Most things are absorbed by active transport. This means that there’s a “helper” molecule that grabs onto the item to be absorbed and enables it to pass into the bloodstream. Then there is the liver. Items absorbed from the GI tract travel first through the liver. There they can be transformed and reformulated. For example, the liver can change one amino acid into another depending on what the body needs, with the exception of the 9 amino acids that cannot be synthesized by humans. The liver and kidneys also remove and eliminate unwanted or unneeded substances.

Sorry Diablo360x, it was Chrisw77 who posted about vegetable oils being toxic.
