Well, I've been successful thus far in staying away from sugar, but find a habit creeping up. I find a yearning for a nice tasty snack in the evening. I have nothing bad in the house to tempt me which has kept me on track, but I can see the writing on the wall. So far I've been eating raw baby carrots to munch on and this has worked. I worry about getting off track in the future if I'm feeling tempted too much. When this "head craving" comes my way I do some self reflecting on why (at that time) I'm all of a sudden wanting something. A few ideas have popped into my head, but I really don't know if any of these things are the real reasons I'm wanting sugar.

Some of the things that I've thought might be my issue is: 1) I miss my old friend sugar and want to get re-aquainted? 2) I'm bored and eating fills the boredom? 3) eating sugar gave me joy and I'm wanting some joy at the time? I know it's not stress because it always hits me in the evening when I'm watching TV and not feeling stressed, sad or anything. Maybe it's just an old habit that I miss--Kind of like smoking is to a smoker. I remember when I quit smoking many years ago, I missed the habit more than the cigarette. Now I don't miss it at all, but it took quite a few years (about 10) for the yearning of the habit to go away. I'm wondering if a change in my routine is necessary to help with this "head craving"? Maybe exercise at that time or do house work? Funny thing is that I don't have the craving every night. It seems to happen sporadically and approximately 2-3 times per week. Is this just the beginnings of it? Do have more to look forward to? I feel I need to get a handle on this before it gets a hold of me.

I've heard that if you are dehydrated at all then you can misunderstand thirst for hunger. I've been logging on all the water I drink and I am still having difficulty getting all the water in that I need to, so I joined a water challenge for the next 2 weeks. Hopefully this will help. Julie
